IB & A Level Entry Requirements

Undergraduate

Applicants must hold an equivalent qualification to the Irish Leaving Certificate or A level qualification (UK system).

Non-EU Undergraduate Entry Requirements

  • International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB)
  • A-Level (+GCSE O Level)

 

Non-EU undergraduate applicants may present with either of the following recognised exams as consideration for entry.

Undergraduate programmes in UL are categorised into four programme bands of competitiveness. Please see your desired programme band below to determine your required exam result for entry.

In addition, please note that the equivalences shown are the minimum required to be eligible for consideration on a competitive basis. Entry requirements are reviewed on an annual basis.

Postgraduate

Applicants must hold a qualification that is equivalent to an Irish or UK honours bachelor's degree (NQAI level 8). The degree must be in a discipline relevant to the postgraduate degree sought.

English Language Requirements

Acceptable English Language qualifications include the following:

  • IELTS:Minimum score of 6.5 with no lower than 6.0 in any one component.
  • TOEFL: Minimum score of 90 or above in TOEFL IBT examination.
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) - PTE Academic: a minimum score of 63 (with no section score below 59)

Please note that some programmes require a higher level of English.
