UL Celebrates Chinese New Year

Fri, 27 Jan 2017

This January, UL once again celebrated Chinese New Year with our students. Over 100 students joined us for a 3 course meal at local Chinese restaurant, Chung's Cuisine.

The Chinese New Year is the longest and most important celebration in the Chinese calendar and 2017 sees the arrival of the Year of the Rooster. UL faculty and staff were also in attendance at the event, including visiting academics from one of UL's partner institutions, Henan Polytechnic University (HPU) in China. Speaking at the event, Professor Paul McCutcheon, Vice President Academic & Registrar, highlighted the importance and strength of the Chinese community in UL.

The event was organised by the International Education Division in conjuntion with Ya Nan Wang, UL's Chinese Cultural Advisor, who works closely with Chinese students at UL to offer them support and guidance while settling in to life in Limerick and Ireland.
