Dr Louise Larkin

Louise graduated from the University of Limerick in 2011 with a B.Sc. in Physiotherapy (hons). She commenced postgraduate research in the School of Allied Health in 2011, completing her MSc (Research and Thesis) in 2013 and PhD in 2017.

Louise holds two part-time roles in the School of Allied Health at present – Postdoctoral Researcher on the Health Research Board funded PIPPRA study and Physiotherapy Practice Tutor for the MSc in Physiotherapy programme. Louise is a member of the HIST and PAfH research clusters.

Louise’s research interests are in the areas of behaviour change and the management of chronic conditions in the primary care setting, with a specific focus on physical activity. This aligns with the Health Research Institute’s Lifestyle and Health theme.

Louise is currently exploring the impact of physical activity in rheumatic and other long-term conditions. Louise is also leading an IPE Practice Education project which evaluates the impact of a resource on IPE in Practice Education settings.
