PhD, M.Sc, FRS, C.Stat, C.Sci. Providing Biostatistical Consultancy Services to the University of Limerick, HSE and Industry. Consultant Biostatistician to HSE. Director of the Limerick hub of Cstar, the HRB funded methodology support centre for health researchers throughout Ireland. I also developed the teaching and assessment materials for the Biostatistics (and Epidemiology) Components of Graduate Entry Medical Degree at UL (2006-2011). During my career I have given research methodology advice on many health research projects including Pharmaceutical Clinical Trials. As well as studies lead by me in the UK I have personally completed a study funded by Combat Poverty on ‘Health Inequalities, deprivation and access to primary care’ in Ireland. I have also been a collaborator and co-applicant as well as providing advice on many successful grant bids. My main research interests are Clinical Trials particularly Adaptive Designs, Prognostic Trees and Health Inequalities. I am involved in many current research projects including PINTA and various UHL sponsored Clinical Trials. I am also a member of several ethics committees e.g. ULREG, UHL REC (Vice-chair), Sci&Eng FREC as well as Acting Chair EHSFREC. I’m a member of a National Working Group coordinating a common ethics application form for all health research within Ireland and advising the Dept of Health & HIQA on Clinical Trials & future Research Ethics procedures.
