I am working as regular Professor in School of Public Health, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India. The institute has been granted status of ‘National Institute of Eminence’ by Government of India. I am coordinator of Masters in Public Health (MPH) program and Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health Management (PGDPHM) in our institute. I also teach students of PhD, M.D, MPH, nursing, Masters of Hospital Administration (MHA).  

I have worked extensively at grass root level and had undertaken 50 projects with national and international agencies (on school health, immunization in slums, tobacco control, human resource in health, diseases like epilepsy etc.), wrote papers (n=140), authored 35 chapters, produced 12 films on national health programs and wrote books (n=5). Besides, I provide technical support in planning and implementation of National Rural Health Mission of our country. My work involves writing grants, advocacy on various public health issues and translating research into policy and practice. I am visiting faculty of International South Asia UNION course on Operational Research, Honorary Professor of Swansea University UK, Vice-Chair of Tobacco Control Section of International Union against TB and Lung Diseases and leading MPOWER Research Group of The Union.
