I am a consultant old age psychiatrist setting up a new service within the HSE for the North Tipperary area. I am also involved with the delivery of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) within the regional service based in University Hospital Limerick. I completed my dual higher specialist training in old age psychiatry and general adult psychiatry in 2018. I completed a PhD in Psychiatry from Trinity College Dublin in 2016 based on work on molecular aspects (particularly microRNAs) of depression and ECT.  I am an associate editor of the Irish Journal of Psychological medicine and have postgraduate qualifications in medical education and statistics. I maintain an interest in ECT, depression and microRNAs and I am currently involved in a study of psychiatric patient attitudes toward medical students.
