Course Overview

All staff have a duty to ensure that potential conflicts of interest are documented and managed with regard to the best interests of the University. These may be an, a) actual conflict of interest, b) perceived conflict of interest, or c) potential conflict of interest.

This session will review the Conflict of Interest Policy and will raise awareness of common workplace conflict-of-interest situations and how these should be addressed. Conflict-of-interest in the area of research will also be addressed within this briefing session.

Course Objectives/Outcomes

This presentation will provide an overview of the University's Policy for Conflicts of Interest, describe the requirements for disclosure, and explain the steps in the process in order to comply with these requirements.

We will also consider situations where conflicts may arise in respect of academic, administrative and research activities, and how those conflicts could be managed and avoided.
