Professional Diploma in Applied Economics and Energy Analysis and the Professional Diploma in Financial Analytics.

University of Limerick’s Graduate and Professional Studies is pleased to announce the launch of two new postgraduate programmes, both 50% funded - the Professional Diploma in Applied Economics and Energy Analysis and the Professional Diploma in Financial Analytics. 

Delivered by the team at UL’s triple-accredited Kemmy Business School (KBS), the diplomas have been designed to meet growing industry demand for applied analytical and strategic skills in two fast-evolving fields—economics and finance. 

These new programmes, delivered fully online, reflect KBS’s continued commitment to offering flexible programmes that meet the evolving needs of both professionals and employers.  

The Professional Diploma in Applied Economics and Energy Analysis is ideal for graduates and mid-career professionals to upskill or deepen their understanding of economic systems and energy policy. Students will engage with topics such as enterprise policy, climate change economics, health and education economics, and energy market analysis, developing practical skills in policy analysis and economic modelling. 

The Professional Diploma in Financial Analytics equips students with technical and analytical competencies in finance, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. Students will gain hands-on expertise in applying statistical and AI methods to financial decision-making, supporting Ireland’s digital and regulatory transformation goals. The programme prepares graduates to succeed in roles in investment analytics, fintech, risk and data governance.  

Commencing in September 2025, the diplomas run over two semesters online, finishing in May 2026. Students will be assessed through offer continuous assessment over two semesters and flexible learning formats to suit working professionals. On successful completion, graduates of these professional diplomas can stack their postgraduate awards to build a Master of Professional Practice.
