EU Medical Cover

As an EU student, you are eligible to avail of the full medical services in Ireland. In order to do so, bring a European Health Card with you, which you can obtain from your local health board in your home country. The European Health Card entitles you to public health care for medical treatment. More information can be found here

UL Student Health Centre

The Student Health Centre is located in block C, level M, in the main building and provides a service for University of Limerick registered students only.

The Student Health Centre is an urgent care/advisory service and deals with all general health issues as they present. Our services include access to: doctor (GP), nurse, contraceptive clinic, sexual health clinic and physiotherapy. We now offer a mixture of face to face and telephone consultations.

The Student Health Centre is closed for walk in bookings and enquiries. Please telephone to book a consultation and do not present in person unless you have been instructed by Student Health Centre staff to come in. Please be advised that in order to make an appointment with the Student Health Centre, students will need to provide an Irish mobile phone number. UL Student Counselling and Wellbeing Service

The Student Counselling and Wellbeing Service at UL is located in block C, level M, main building, opposite the student health centre. The service is open to registered UL students only.

The counselling service provides a free and confidential service from 9-5, Monday to Friday. It is the first point of contact for your mental health care needs. You begin by attending a drop-in service which runs each weekday throughout the semester, after which further supports will be offered depending upon your needs and the resources available. Typical supports include: online supports; short-term counselling; or referral to a specialist mental health service.

Counselling can be provided online or face to face, depending upon your need as well as the physical resources available at the service. The service is non-diagnostic and non-medical in approach. It does not provide specialised assessments nor prescribe medications. Students accessing the services outside of Europe cannot be offered online counselling for indemnity purposes. Please be advised that in order to make an appointment with the UL Student Counseling and Wellbeing Service, students will need to provide an Irish mobile phone number. (Irish sim-cards available at UL Global Reception).
