On the 21st Mar 2018 a GEMS team led by Prof Deirdre McGrath received a National DELTA (Disciplinary Excellence in Teaching Learning & Assessment) Award from the National Forum for Teaching & Learning. This was one of eleven awards from a total of 48 submissions.

DELTA awards are major national level awards for Irish higher education teaching and form an integral part of the overall National Learning Impact Awards system designed to enhance and strengthen teaching excellence in higher education by recognising the value of teaching at a national level.  The application process is challenging, and each submission is assessed rigorously by an expert panel of reviewers. Criteria for the awards include Excellence, Exceptionality, Impact, Communication and Autheniticity to the discipline.

The title of the GEMS Submission was “Intergrated  Medical Education – Learning for life” which highlighted the achievements and impact of the Year 1 & 2 BMBS curriculum.
