Next Monday is Rosh Hashanah. Rosh Hashanah is a special festival that celebrates Jewish New Year. It means 'Head of the Year'. The festival lasts for two days and this year it starts on the evening of the 6th September.  Rosh Hashanah is a celebration of the creation of the world and marks making a fresh start.  

You are warmly invited to join us for this lunchtime event ‘An Introduction to the Jewish New Year’. Where Yanky Fachler, writer and historian will discuss the traditions and practices, some going back thousands of years, surrounding Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. 

Yanky born in the UK to parents who escaped as teenagers from Nazi Germany is the founder and the chair of the Jewish Historical Society of Ireland and is involved in Irelands' annual Holocaust Memorial Day. He is the author of a dozen books on Zionist history, the history of the Irish Jewish community and Business.
