10th September 2021 World Suicide Prevention Day
On Friday, September 10th we are running a lunchtime event from 1 pm-2 pm to mark World Suicide Prevention Day. We will be joined by members from Limerick Suicide Watch. Limerick Suicide Watch will discuss the work they do for the community such as keeping eyes on the river and identify and provide support to those in distress and who may be contemplating suicide.

National Breastfeeding week

In association with the National Breastfeeding Week we are organising an online event on Wednesday the 6th October with Laura McHugh, National Breastfeeding Coordinator, HSE and Caoimhe Heery, a partner in Flynn O’Driscoll LLP’s Employment Team.
Laura will provide an update on the following:
Breastfeeding in a Healthy Ireland – HSE Action Plan 2016-2021
Hospital and community service supports available for parents
Health Service Policies and Practices in Breastfeeding
Caoimhe will talk about the rights of employees in relation to breastfeeding in the workplace together with the range of protective leave and rights available to parents in the workplace.

Milad an-Nabi, also known as Mawlid, is celebrated by Muslims as the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad. Mawlid celebrations include prayer meetings, parades and communal meals, making it a wonderful time to connect with friends and neighbours.
In association with Milad an-Nabi (Mawlid) we are organising an online event on Tuesday the 19th October with Naima Manaa. Naima Manaa is an Algerian International PhD student in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences majoring Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics. Naima is from the north east of Algeria. .
Naima will give a presentation on Mawlid Al Nabi and will speak about the following:
What is Milad an-Nabi (Mawlid)
Why do Muslims celebrate this occasion
How do we celebrate it
How do the Algerians celebrate this important occasion

4th November 2021 Diwali (Hinduism)
To celebrate Diwali please join us to hear from staff and students about Diwali and Deepavali .
This event will be hosted by Dr. Yoga Nathan, Mridul Gupta, Pratyay Raha, and Deepika Chhatpar on Thursday, November 4th @ 13h00.
The event will start with a Hinduism summary before talking about Deepavali (a four-day festival celebrated mostly in the south Indian states)
and Diwali (a five-day festival celebrated mostly in the north Indian states).
