We invite you to consider other ways of finding out about your students’ experiences and your teaching approaches within your discipline. Focus groups have been used by individual faculty members and course teams to get in-depth insight into how students experience various aspects of their learning experience, from specific assessments within a module, to an entire 4-year course. A number of instructors have requested focus groups to get focused feedback on aspects of their teaching highlighted in their SET results. Individual faculty members have used focus groups to get rich, detailed data on student reactions to specific modules, teaching methods, or assessments. Based on focus group feedback, instructors at all levels have redesigned or refined modules and programmes to make the student experience richer and more relevant.
