Software Development - Higher Diploma, NFQ Level 8 Major Award

The Higher Diploma in Software Development is a full-time conversion programme for non-ICT graduates wishing to enter the IT sector. The course will provide participants with fundamental theoretical and practical skills, abilities and knowledge to gain a comprehensive intermediate understanding of software development. Programme delivery is Monday-Friday, similar to any fulltime on-campus UL programme. 

 

Data Analytics & Software Development - Higher Diploma, NFQ Level 8 Major Award

The Higher Diploma in Data Analytics and Software Development course is a full-time programme for graduates of engineering or related technology disciplines, that will provide learners with fundamental theoretical and practical skills, abilities and knowledge to gain a comprehensive understanding of data analytics and software development closely aligned to current employer needs.

The programme has been designed in consultation with a number of technology businesses that are based in the west/mid-west regions (all part of the Limerick for IT group). Analog Devices, HP (Galway), Johnson & Johnson (Vistakon), DELL and General Motors have all been involved in the course design.

 

Embedded Systems Engineering - Specialist Diploma, NFQ Level 9 Minor Award

Embedded systems are the cornerstone of most modern 'intelligent' devices diverse consumer items such as smartphones, digital TV and washing machines to more complex systems such as automotive navigation and control systems. The applications of embedded systems spans many sectors of the economy including consumer electronics, transportation, safety and security and medical applications.

The rapid growth of applications in the Embedded Systems area requires skilled engineers who have the necessary specific hardware and software expertise.

The Specialist Diploma in Embedded Systems Engineering is a part-time (evening + online) postgraduate level programme spanning a single academic year (two semesters, starting in January, finishing in December) and is designed for experienced ICT professionals who wish to upskill to meet the emerging skills gap in the Embedded Systems area.

 

Information & Network Security - Specialist Diploma, NFQ Level 9 Minor Award

Maintaining secure networks and information systems and guarding company information are considered critical in today's business environments. Most companies, especially those in banking, defence, e-commerce and telecommunications are making systems security a top priority. Consequently, there is a great need for skilled professionals who can plan, analyse and implement security measures.

The Specialist Diploma in Information and Network Security course is a part-time, evening, postgraduate programme spanning a single academic year (two semesters) and is designed for ICT professionals who wish to upskill to meet an emerging skills gap in the Information and Network Security area.
