COVID Action Group Personnel

  • UL has an extensive group of volunteers contributing on all aspects of the COVID-19 crisis. A full inventory is available within the University. This extends from contact tracing, frontline health provision of allied health staff and representation on advisory board (see below).
  • Representation on advisory boards include:

James Gleeson & Cathal Walsh are on the NPHET Irish Epidemiological Modelling Advisory Group (IEMAG)

Stephen Kinsella is contributing to the DPER planning programme for economic supports and was asked to serve on the Research Sub-Group of the Expert Advisory Group

Liam Glynn of GEMS and #COVIDWATCHIRL is part of the National Advisory Group 

Orla Muldoon is now a member of the Public Health Emergency Team

Sarah Hudson is the UL representative on the HSE COVID19 Laboratory R&D Product Solutions Group

Jim Buckley is representing Lero on the SFI Priority Action group focused on Contact Tracing

Conor McCarthy is chairing NSCAN – National Supply Chain Academic Network, a network that was set up to help industry and indeed the country restart from a supply chain perspective. 

Patrick O'Donnell is a member of the HSE CHO3 Area Crisis Management Team which is the main decision making body for Covid response in all healthcare across the Mid-West (including primary care, secondary care, public health & others). Patrick is there to advise on the needs of marginalised groups such as homeless, asylum seekers and people who use drugs while he also advises HSE Social Inclusion on testing and isolation for marginalised groups across the Mid-West.

Liz Kingston is an advisor to the HSE-Mid-West, Quality, Risk and Patient Safety Department Covid-19 Infection Control Response Team for Community and Residential Care settings. Liz talks to RTEBrainstorm on the use of facemasks here or Watch Liz talking to the Tonight Show on their use in public.
