COVID Action Group Equipment

  • UHL will have flexible access to the high-end 3D printer at the University, under the supervision of Professor Leornard O’Sullivan and with support of his research group. This instrument, funded through the SFI Infrastructure programme, will allow for the development of bespoke support and auxiliary equipment for healthcare professionals. There has been high demand for this instrument through the Rapid Innovation Hub initiative and the SFI CONFRIM research centre for smart manufacturing.

  • Other academics have provided stock supplied from their own labs
  • The University has worked with industry collaborators for the provision of instrumentation for dedicated use by the University and the hospital.
  • The University has provided an inventory of equipment that is available for use by the HSE. This was is response to a query from the COVID Engineering Alliance and the HSE
  • The University of Limerick has provided PPE (respiratory masks and gloves) to the Garda Síochana and staff still working on campus (Dr Walter Stanley)
