University of Limerick will host leading financial experts at a prestigious international conference this July, strengthening Limerick’s position as a hub of thought-leadership in finance, innovation, and sustainable economic development.

An estimated 340 top academics, researchers, and industry practitioners from 55 countries and across nine central banks are expected to attend the World Finance Conference, hosted by UL’s Kemmy Business School (KBS), across Monday, July 27 to Wednesday, July 29.

Attendees of this three-day conference event will gather to engage in world-class academic discourse, discussing the most pressing issues and innovations in the fields of finance, economics, and risk management.

The conference boasts an impressive keynote speaker lineup including Lucio Sarno (University of Cambridge), Olivier Dessaint (INSEAD), and Kathy Yuan (London School of Economics and Political Science).

Alongside insightful discussions and presentations on the future of finance in an increasingly interconnected world, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops addressing contemporary challenges and opportunities in the financial sector.

Away from academic discourse, attendees will be invited to explore Limerick’s rich cultural heritage, with a tour of the Cliffs of Moher and the Wild Atlantic Way a highlight of the social schedule.

Dr Darren Shannon, conference co-chair and Assistant Professor in UL’s Department of Accounting and Finance, described the three-day event as a “fantastic opportunity for Limerick”.

“Not only does it bring key financial research to the Kemmy Business School, but it also aligns with Limerick’s economic objectives of enhancing the local region’s attractiveness and reputation as a leading tourism and cultural destination,” said Dr Shannon.

The event organisers would like to acknowledge the support of Mayor John Moran and his office in hosting an official welcome to Limerick for the delegates and enhancing the city’s profile on a global stage. The organisers would further like to thank Fáilte Ireland and UL Events for their support in organising the conference.
