"Tackling Climate Change Effectively"

The government's climate action plan represents a significant step forward, setting targets for 2030 and implementing a new governance system. However, if we are to reach those targets and reach net-zero carbon dioxide emmisions by 2050. This represents a major challenge for policy in Ireland. It is now urgent to take action to ensure we reach our objectives. This will pose a major challenge for the policy-making process. It will require major changes for all those living in Ireland. Inevitably, there will be significant costs for us all. Achieving our targets in a cost-effective manner will firstly require getting the price of carbon right. However, it will also require multiple other supporting measures if we are to achieve our climate goals.
