Enactus UL - Winners of Enactus Ireland Competition 2021

Last night the UL Enactus team were crowned the winners of Enactus Ireland National Competition - www.enactus.ie

This is a first for UL and they are the first team outside of Dublin to win the award. This is an exceptional achievement and endorses the many contributions that students make to the social wellbeing of society by applying entrepreneurial and creative thinking.

Enactus http://www.enactus.org   is a global organization empowering third level students to become socially conscious leaders through the power of social enterprise and entrepreneurial thinking.  They run an annual National Competition for third level institutions who develop social enterprise projects that are financially sustainable, empowering, demonstrate impact, are eco-friendly and support the objectives of the SDG. .

Enacts UL has grown in strength to 143 members in 2021 and have created 6 social enterprises. Four of these enterprises were included in the winning submission as follows:

• Anytime of the Month – http://www.anytimeofthemonth.com

• Moyo Nua https://www.moyonua.org

• Restart https://restartsocialenterprise.com

• Sparked - www.sparked.ie      www.sparked.ie

The contribution of our KBS Enactus students has been truly remarkable during the challenges of Covid as they have:

  • Provided over 11,000 volunteering hours.
  • Generated €36,308 in revenue which is being reinvested back into the projects.
  • Created social and environmental impact in the lives of 2,347 people in Ireland and Malawi.
  • Gained over 1 million media impressions.

In addition, last week the Anytime of the Month project won first prize at the Social Enterprise Northern Ireland and Community Finance Ireland competition to secure €1,700.

The UL Enactus team will represent Ireland at The Enactus World Cup 2021 which will take place on October 14th - 21st virtually.

This is an exceptional achievement and endorses the social and ethical intelligence of our students who bring this into practice through their innovative and entrepreneurial behaviors by identifying solutions that have enriched the society in which they choose to study, live and work in.
