Dr. Eamonn Kelly


Dr. Éamonn Kelly is a full-time lecturer with the Centre for Project Management at the University of Limerick. Éamonn is passionate about developing next-generation project management leaders and professionals seeking to enhance and expand career opportunities through professional development and higher education.Éamonn has worked with Accenture, Deloitte, E&Y, KPMG, McKinsey & Company, and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in a career that has spanned 25 years as an experienced consultant in project and portfolio management. Tasked with delivering cornerstone initiatives that included enterprise system implementation (SAP), business transformation, and program management (PMO) across multiple sectors, including healthcare, technology, utility, government, and manufacturing. As the Senior Ministerial Advisor and Project Manager, Éamonn was responsible for the design, development, and delivery of the National Postcode Project (Eircodes). This solution saw Ireland become the first country in the world to have a unique postcode for each address. Éamonn continues to work closely with boards and executive teams to increase oversight, transparency, and accountability and has held a Board Observer role at Saolta University Hospital Group, Galway, Ireland.Éamonn is a vibrant and colourful speaker; he has presented at PMI® global conferences, regional and chapter meetings as well as international technical conferences on topics such as strategy execution, governance, the role of the PMO, Agile methods, and project success.Éamonn was a contributing author for the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK®, 6th Ed.) and is often called upon by the Project Management Institute (PMI) to update the PMP and CAPM exams, and review research and conference proposals. Éamonn has also worked with SeminarsWorld® on new practitioner-led content.Éamonn earned his Doctorate in Business Administration with a concentration in Strategy and Innovation from Capella University, Minneapolis. He also holds an MBA, Project Management major, from Keller Graduate School of Management, Chicago. He is also a PRINCE2 Practitioner, a Certified Scrum Master (CSM), an Agile Certified Professional (PMI-ACP), and has held his PMP® designation since 2005.Key research interests:

Research Interests

Research interests are firmly focused on the improvement of project management practice. Strategy, integration, governance, portfolio management, and the value of project management are critical areas of investigation. Those areas that significantly assist project management practitioners and may include, but are not limited to, change management, operating models, the use of AI, and benefits realization management.
