Economics :: Programmes

The Department of Economics contributes to the teaching mission of the University through the provision of economics modules in a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.  In addition to the major option in Economics offered to students on the Bachelor of Business Studies Degrees (BBS), the Department also offers minor options in Globalisation - An Economic Perspective and Quantitative Analysis for Business.

Economics is a core subject on a number of degree programmes at UL including the joint degree programmes BA Law and Accounting,  BA in International Insurance & European Studies,  BSc in Economics and Mathematical Sciences and the BA in Economics and Sociology.

The Department of Economics introduced a new MSc. in Economics and Policy Analysis programme starting in 2012 which has already proven very successful. Graduates from the programme have gone on to work in the Central Bank of Ireland, the Central Statistics Office and a wide variety of private financial institutions.

The Department also has responsibility for tourism studies at UL, which includes the administration of the MA in International Tourism, run jointly with the National Centre for Tourism Policy Studies. Faculty also teach on the Corporate MBA.

The MBS (by research) and Ph.D programmes are organised through the Graduate Research Centre.
