Access to campus facilities

At University of Limerick, our aim is to provide a safe and healthy environment for you to experience the social and sporting aspects of campus life whilst maintaining a high-quality learning experience.

Significant work has been undertaken at UL to prepare for Semester 1 of Academic Year 20/21 and while the health and safety of our full community is guiding our planning process, we are working at continuing to deliver an excellent student experience in the context of all of the health parameters caused by the continuing pandemic. We want you, our returning students, and all of our new and incoming students to experience the social and sporting aspects of campus life whilst maintaining a high-quality learning experience.

We are asking every individual member of the UL community of both staff and students to remain vigilant of safety measures we have in place to minimise the risk of transmission of COVID 19 for the foreseeable future and to continue to follow Public Health guidelines.

Students have been at the forefront of the hugely positive national response to this crisis - you are a vital part of our society locally and nationally and we need to work together to keep our communities safe. Continue to respect physical distancing and other recommendations and be aware that every single one of us can negate the risk of infection and transmission to our communities at home as well as on campus by our vigilance.

As you know the blended learning approach we are using for the coming academic year provides for a mix of on-campus teaching and online learning. When you are not scheduled to be on campus for academic purposes, you can still access UL Sports facilities, social, student supports and other services. Be aware that many of these require prior booking. For more see below and also what is available from September.

In line with Public Health guidelines, students must wear facemasks while indoors on campus where maintaining 2m physical distancing is not possible. This position will be kept under continual review and the requirement to wear face coverings may change. Every effort is being taken to re-orient the lecture halls and teaching spaces in UL to ensure this 2m distance can be maintained.

Restaurants, bars and other services have their own return to work protocol following national guidelines and will have strict social/physical distancing measures and sanitation processes in place to ensure the safety of staff and students.
