Dr Ailbhe Nic Giolla Chomhaill, Lecturer in Irish and Course Director of the MA Gaeilge programme, and MA Gaeilge student Abaigéal Ní Dhroma, have each been awarded a scholarship under the prestigious Fulbright programme, to conduct a period of research and teaching, respectively, at a US university during the upcoming academic year (2023/24).

Ailbhe will spend the spring semester as a Fulbright Irish Scholar at Indiana University, Bloomington, while Abaigéal will spend the autumn and spring semesters as an Irish language teaching assistant at the University of Montana.

This year's Fulbright awards were announced at a ceremony which took place at the US Ambassador's residence in Phoenix Park, Dublin, on 8 June.
