Tell your own story
Monday, 28 June 2021

Twelve postgraduate participants from different backgrounds have completed media training as part of the 'Tell your own story' project. 'Tell your own story' is a media initiative which uses a story-based approach in local media to promote empathy and inclusivity on campus and in the wider community. In three full day workshops (14-16 June) the participants learned about and experienced the power of story exchanges and participated in practical workshops on the Irish Media landscape, writing for media, videoing and the creation of podcasts and radio shows. The training was supported by lecturers in Journalism Dr Henry Silke, Dr Fergal Quinn, Kathryn Hayes and Audrey Galvin, as well as media consultant Peter O'Connell and Wired FM producers Ray Burke and Martin Mongan. Going forward, the participants will continue to be coached and supported as they are starting to produce the first contributions for local media.
