The School of Law was delighted to facilitate Street Law training for a group of youth justice workers based in the Kerry Garda Youth Diversion Project on 19 and 20 August 2019.

The aim of Street Law is to teach law at grassroots level. It is a learner-centred process that encourages young people to develop their capacity for democratic decision-making, communication and teamwork skills, while also educating them about the legal system and their legal rights.

The Street Law training was co-ordinated by Dr Lydia Bracken of the School of Law. Lydia delivered the training alongside John Lunney, Law Society of Ireland, and Bronagh Heverin and Siobhan Cullen of Letterkenny Institute of Technology.
