Ragged, livid & on fire: The Wanderings of Melmoth at 200' exhibition showcases a selection of the texts Charles Robert Maturin alludes to in his famous 1820 gothic novel, Melmoth the Wanderer. Maturin was known to read and research at Marsh's Library, and, while we can't be certain exactly what he read there, this exhibition highlights a number of the works from Marsh's holdings that he may have consulted, including Virgil's Aeneid, Shakespeare's Hamlet, and several early modern dramas, amongst many other sources.

The exhibition will run from 29 October to March 2022 and will also be accessible online at: https://www.marshlibrary.ie/.
