This group brings together postgraduate students and faculty pursuing interdisciplinary research on the historical and contemporary effects of western imperialism in different regions of the world. We will read critical and theoretical texts from the fields of political philosophy, literary theory, environmental humanities, memory studies, and art and aesthetics. The group will meet about once a month to discuss selected readings and host guest speakers. Our meetings are open to all. 

For the first meeting, which will be held on Monday October 4 from l-2pm, we will read Achille Mbembe's "Necropolitics."
