The Irish Political Constitution Conference
Thursday, 4 December 2025

On Friday, 28 November, Professor Laura Cahillane, together with Dr Donal Coffey (Maynooth) and Dr Alan Greene (Birmingham), organised the Irish Political Constitution Conference in Dublin; a major event in the field of constitutional scholarship. The conference gathered leading and emerging experts from across the island of Ireland and the UK to engage in rich discussion on key constitutional issues. Among the speakers was our colleague Dr Jamie McLoughlin, who delivered a paper on meetings between the Taoiseach and the President under Article 28 of the Constitution. The day was marked by insightful presentations and stimulating debate. Reflecting its success, the organisers, Professor Cahillane, Dr Coffey, and Dr Greene, will edit a special edition of the Irish Jurist featuring the papers presented at the conference. We are proud of Professor Cahillane’s leadership on this important initiative, which constitutes a significant contribution to advancing constitutional scholarship and fostering academic collaboration.
