Seminar: Child Protection and Sport

ICEL, at the School of Law, is delighted to announce a seminar on Child Protection and Sport. Speakers include:
 
  • Bernie Priestly, the Code of Ethics Manager in Sport Ireland
  • Gearóid Ó Maoilmhichíl, Child Welfare and Safeguarding Manager in the GAA.
The seminar is worth 1.5 CPD.

Speaker bios:
Bernie Priestly is the Code of Ethics Manager in Sport Ireland. She has been in that role since 2006. Her role is to work with all the sporting Federations in the Implementation of Safeguarding Children and Young People. In this role, she works with over 60 National Governing Bodies to provide a Safe Environment for children and young people. Bernie has developed a suite of face-to-face and online training programmes and has developed with an online platform developer a Safe Sport App. Bernie holds a post-graduate qualification in Child Protection and Welfare from Trinity College Dublin.
 
Gearóid Ó Maoilmhichíl is the Child Welfare and Safeguarding Manager in the GAA and is based in Croke Park. Gearóid took up the position in 2008 when the GAA created a full-time national children’s officer and prior to this, he served as president of the Youth Council of Ireland.
