Primary Healthcare Research Group update

Guidelines and Training Initiatives that support communication in cross-cultural primary care settings: Appraising their implementability using Normalisation process Theory. 

Professor Anne MacFarlane attended an EU COST action Adapting European health systems to diversity (ADAPT) meeting in Porto, Portugal April 29-30th 2015. Organised by the University Institute of Lisbon, the meeting was a gathering of experts from a range of disciplines and agencies, including the WHO, to examine and progress the involvement of migrants in health research.

Dr Patrick O'Donnell, UL GEMS Clinical Fellow in Social Inclusion has been selected as the fifth Montegut Global Scholar 2015 from the WONCA (World Congress of Family Doctors) Europe region.  The Montegut Global Scholars Program was established by the American Board of Family Medicine Foundation in 2010 to foster international education, research and collaboration in the specialty of family medicine. This will provide him with the opportunity to attend the WONCA Europe Conference in Istanbul, Turkey on 22-25th of October 2015.  Dr O’Donnell will present work undertaken by the Partnership for Health Equity.
