Dr. Casey's research interests include Microelectromechanical structures and
devices particularly structures generated using softlithography techniques. He
is specifically interested in using micromachined elastomer structures as
primary sensing elements in biomedical (non-invasive) pressure sensors and as
micro-gratings in Moire interference analysis of model mechanical structures
such as hip prosthesis.

Fig. 1 Microsprings form the sensing element of MediPres, a patented
sub-bandage pressure logging and monitoring system. The chart shows the pressure
traces from three sensors deployed under a leg bandage to establish pressure
gradient.
