Daghdha Dance Company...
Limerick's professional contemporary dance company, Daghdha, is eagerly anticipating an active and creative autumn season. Firstly the company looks forward to welcoming 12 students to the Daghdha Mentoring Programme (DMP) at the start of October. Funded by FAS Limerick, the programme will also welcome two new mentoring co-ordinators.
Mamuska Nights
On Friday 6 October Daghdha launches the second series of its very successful Mamuska Nights, which provide a platform for experimental works by upcoming and established artists. Under the directorship of Davide Terlingo, Mamuska Nights have become increasingly popular both with those wishing to perform and those wanting to attend these artistically innovative events. Open to the public, admission is free and it starts at 8pm (there will also be a Mamuska Night on Friday December 1)
Framemakers
2/3 November: Framemakers aims to embody and foster a new understanding of choreography, as the creative act of setting humans, actions, ideas and thoughts in relation to one another; to create order, channel energies, explore dynamics and create the conditions for something to happen. A series of lectures and discussions will take place at the Church space, which will be open to the public. Amongst what promises to be a very stimulating series of lectures debates and seminars, undoubtedly the presentation by sociologist and author Alan Shapiro on the TV series LOST will be one of the main attractions!
Gravity and Grace
13/14/15/16/17 December
Within the annual Gravity & Grace programme which runs for five days in December, Daghdha will present Sediments of an Ordinary Mind, choreographed by Michael Klien, with performances on December 13/14/15 . Sediments of an Ordinary Mind is an enigma of human idiosyncrasies and extraordinary traces of the ordinary. This work's distinct choreographic and performative language builds on an ongoing quest for new forms of artistic expression.
Meanwhile on Saturday 16 December the church space will open to the public, with a performance on the hour, every hour, featuring some very well known figures representing a variety of dance cultures.
