Introduction
The MA in Irish Traditional Music Performance is a one year, full-time programme. Its structure is divided between two semesters, consisting of a total of six, 3 credit modules (four core modules and two, compulsory, elective modules) and a final performance worth 9 credits.
The elective module will be constructed especially for the student by the student, Course Directors, and other relevant members of staff. Elective modules will draw on the existing areas of expertise at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance including:
- ethnochoreology
- ethnomusicology
- Irish traditional dance
- contemporary dance
- Irish traditional music
- music education
- music therapy
- music technology
- chant performance
- classical string performance
- community music
