Programme Outline
Autumn Semester
Technique, Repertoire and Style I
Focuses on the individual instrument. Classes will consist of studio teaching and master classes at the discretion of the master teacher(s).
Ensemble - I
Features training and concert experience in chamber music and chamber orchestra repertoire.
Irish World Academy of Music and Dance Elective
This module offers students the opportunity to pursue self-directed learning of an academic or performance-based project, under the guidance of the course director and an elective supervisor. The student may wish to use the elective to pursue more specialised study in his / her area of specialisation, or to access the other areas of expertise available at the Academy (these currently include Ethnomusicology, Ethnochoreology, Music Education, Community Music, Chant, Ritual Studies, Music Therapy, Irish Traditional Music, Classical String Performance, Irish Traditional Dance Performance, Contemporary Dance Performance and other specialist research interests of faculty and doctoral researchers at the centre).

Spring Semester
Technique, Repertoire and Style - II
Provides progressive tuition, within the framework outlined in Technique, Repertoire and Style -I. Contact time with individual teacher will focus on an increased development of the repertoire learned in Technique, Repertoire and Style - I, as well as new and more advanced repertoire. The foundations of repertoire and style formed in Technique, Repertoire and Style - It will be built upon through the consolidation of skills learned in Technique, Repertoire and Style - I, as well as the development of more advanced skills and technique.
Ensemble - II
Involves progressive training and concert experience in chamber music and chamber orchestra repertoire, according to the framework outlined in Ensemble - I.
Elective
This module offers the opportunities presented under
'IWAMD Autumn Elective' as above.
