The Irish World Academy of Music and Dance is a centre of academic and performance excellence housed at the University of Limerick, Ireland. It offers a suite of taught MA and BA courses and a Grad. Dip in music and dance related subject areas. Its research is at the forefront of these fields of enquiry worldwide.
Formerly known as the Irish World Music Centre, the new title reflects the parity of esteem between music and dance in its fourfold energies of Reflection, Practice, Artists-in-residence, and Community Outreach. A series of concerts, seminars and a summer school showcase this unique focus to local and international spheres.
Fair Play for World Cultures...

A new logo/strap line for the Irish World Academy is ‘Cothrom na Féinne do Chultúir na Cruinne’, with its English translation - ‘Fair Play for World Cultures’. A less informal translation might have been ‘Parity of Esteem for World Cultures’, but the notion of ‘fair play’ is one well embedded in the consciousness of Hiberno-
English, and it carries with it a resonance with play as performance. It also has a sympathetic resonance with ‘fair trade’. ... (click below to read more)

A New Home...
The new Irish World Academy of Music and Dance building will take its place in County Clare along the banks of the River Shannon.....




The new Certificate in Music and Dance (due to commence in September 2009) is a 1 year fulltime or 2 year part-time programme. Deadline for applications extended to July 31st.
