    Freshers training details


    There will be two Fresher Hurling team this year comprising of 25 per panel

    Both Fresher teams will compete in the All Ireland League and The Munster Championship, Fresher 1 competing in Division 1 and Fresher 2 in Division 2.

    The Management Structure for Freshers for this year is as follows:

    Fresher A: Manager: Ger Cunningham
    Selectors: Declan Fitzgerald and Peter Tiernan
    Fresher B: Manager: Declan Fitzgerald
    Selectors: Ger Cunningham and Peter Tiernan

    Ger Cunnigham has coached and trained Newtownshandrum to County, Munster and All Ireland Club success in 2003/04. He also took Thurles Sarsfields to County success in 2005.

    Declan Fitzgerald has coached and trained the Limerick Minor Hurlers to the All Ireland Final in 2005. He has also coached Glen Rovers in Cork and Killenaule in Tipperary.

    Peter Tiernan is the current Chairman of the U.L. Hurling Club and was a selector in the 2004 Fitzgibbon team that reached the Final.

    The training schedule for Freshers is as follows:

    Monday & Wednesday: Fitness & Coaching Sessions Tuesday & Thursday: Strength & Conditioning Sessions.

    Please Note: Fitness and Coaching Sessions will take place on the pitches and the Astro Turf and it is mandatory that all successful panel members attend both sessions. Strength & Conditioning Sessions will take place in the Elite Weights Room and the Sprint track in the University Arena. These sessions are not mandatory but it is advised to attend as many as possible for your own benefit. These sessions are being designed by Cian O Neill, Lecturer in Physical Education & Sport Science.
