Intermediate League Round 4

Peter O'Brien (PRO), Thursdsay November 9th 2006

University of Limerick 2-13
Cork Institute of Technology 3-14

UL went into this match on the back of three straight wins unfortunately however this run came to an end against a very good CIT side. Played on UL’s homegroung Pitch one CIT started very brightly and had an early two point lead before UL drew level. Both sides exchanged points before CIT took the advantage with two goals in quick sucession. UL had points from Eoin Russell, Johnny Maher and Tommy Hannon before half time which left the score at 2-7 to 0-8 in favour of the visitors.

UL upped the tempo in the second half and worked very hard to try and claw back the deficit. Again the teams exchanged points before UL had crucial scores from centre forward John Breen and David Brennan. These goals got the home side back in contention however CIT always managed to keep their noses infront. Despite late points from Maher and Foley a third goal for CIT ensured victory for the visitors. Unfortunately UL have lost their 100% record in the league but will take consolation from the fact that they are through to the knock out stages.

On the day UL’s Best permormances came from Micky Collins, Aidan Ryan, Tommy Hannon and John Breen.
