UL began the day with a good victory in this intermediate game against UCC. UL fielded a strong team in this game which preceded the
Fitzgibbon fixture in limerick today. UL wing forwards Eoin Russell and Johnny Maher were in fine form early on contributing six points
between them. UL were hurling well and were beating their opposition throughout the field. UL had further points from Conor Hassett,
John Greene, Andy O’Connell, while UCC only managed four points in reply, leaving the half time score at 0-09 to 0-04.
UL made changes for the second half with Michael Barry replacing Stephen Walsh at wing back and Ollie Hally replacing Patrick Kelly in
goals. Johnny Maher added another to take his total to five points while John Greene added two frees and David Brennan one to take
the score to 0-13 to 0-08 in favor of UL. A goal from O’Connell midway through the second half sealed this victory and another point
from substitute John Breen left the full time score at 1-14 to 0-11. UCC added a couple of late frees to put some respectability on the
scoreboard but in truth UL had a comfortable victory keeping their 100% record in the league going.
The full back line comprising of Liam Devane, James Heffernan and Micky Collins were very solid while Paul Mc hurled well at centre back.
Elsewhere Johnny Maher, Eoin Russell and Andy O’Connell were impressive.
