UL recorded their second win in this intermediate league with an impressive display. Playing with the aid of a strong wind UL blitzed their
opposition and held a very commanding 2-10 to 0-00 lead at half time. The UL full backline were almost impermeable and supplied good
ball to the forwards. Mark Culbert and John Breen were very impressive at midfield and linked the play very well between the backs and
forwards. The goals came from David Brennan and Damien Bergin while Brennan also pointed two frees. UL had further scores from Eoin Russell,
John Maher, David Greene, John Breen and a long range free from Paul McNamara.
The expected fight back from LIT never materialised and UL were in control throughout the second half. David Brennan added three more frees
and a point from play in the second half to bring his total to 1-06. LIT pointed three frees and scored a goal from twenty one yard free however
they never really troubled UL. UL played a good possession style game in the second half and this paid dividends. The final score finished 2-14 to 1-05.
UL had impressive performances from the full back line trio of Liam Devane, James Heffernan and Michael Collins. Mark Culbert and John
Breen totally controlled the middle of the field. While upfront all five out of the six forwards scored. John Maher, David Greene and David Greene
impressed the most.
