linguistique dans le monde", presented by Jacques Leclerc in
conjunction with La
Section du Trésor de la Langue Française au Québec (TLFQ) and the

the University of Laval. This site presents the linguistic
situation and linguistic policies in 218 ststes and 124 coutries in the

(DGLF) outlines the policies and activities of this organization, provides
interesting links to laws concerning the French language including La Loi Toubon and has many pages

français et le droit. It
looks at French as a national, European and international language and
also discussed the regional languages of France.

The
French language law of the 4th August 1994, also known as La Loi Toubon,
was named after the French Minister of Culture of the period who was
responsible for presenting the bill to the Asemblée Nationale.
This site presents the law and its texts. There is also a text treating
the essential aspects of this law as well as the official annual reports
presented to the Asemblée since its application.

is an article written by Henri Jeanjean,
University
of Wollongong, Australia, taken from the site of the Journal Mots
Pluriels (no. 8 October 1998). This article discusses linguistic
policy in France, notably the defence of the French language and the
decline of regional languages in France. The author discusses how
hypocrisy reigns as French governments try to promote multilingualism in
the world and reinforce the place of the French language in the world but
chose to refuse real multilingualism which exists within the Hexagon.
