The University of Limerick has a unique role in Irish Sport. This includes
responsibilites for the provision of teaching and research programmes in
physical education and sports science. Currently there are 600 full-time
students enrolled in such programmes. In addition to its national role,
the University has responsibility to provide a sports environment to the
10,000 student body and staff on campus and the general sporting public
in the region.
The University Arena is a new multi-purpose sports facility catering for
the expanding national sports responsibilities the University enjoys.
This large indoor facility will complete the total package of sports
available on campus for all user groups.
