There's so much to see and do in Limerick City and before you know it, your college years will have flown by, so make sure you make the most of everything this incredible city has to offer! Our friends at Limerick.ie have compiled a top ten checklist of sights and experiences Limerick City has to offer UL students.


1. Art Attack

No money? No problem! Limerick’s top freebies include the Hunt Museum (free on Sundays), Limerick Museum, the Treaty Stone and Limerick City Gallery of Art #cultured


2. Parklife

We would like to think there are plenty of some sunny days left in the year *crosses fingers and toes*. When one comes along kick back and relax at the People’s Park. Located in Limerick’s Georgian quarter it is the perfect place for a romantic picnic or a mate date.


3. Pop some tags

Explore one of the city’s coolest hidden gems, Lucky Lane, an essential stop-off on Limerick’s thrift trail! You’ll find other bargains in Limerick’s main retail area with high-street favourites such as Penneys, Oasis, New Look and River Island. #ThanksPenneys


4. Stick your oar in

Experience Limerick from the majestic River Shannon - kayaking and stand up paddle boarding are fun, adventurous ways to view the city!


5. Support the sport #LuimneachAbú

See the All Ireland champions at home in the Gaelic Grounds, be part of the Munster roar at the iconic Thomond Park Stadium, or support Limerick FC in the Markets Field Stadium.


6. Music to your ears

Limerick has fast become a mecca for music lovers – check out Dolan’s Warehouse, Live at the Big Top, and King John’s Castle for some pretty spectacular gigs! You can also enjoy live traditional music seven nights a week at the Locke Bar, one of Limerick’s oldest pubs.


7. Get cultured

Renowned street artists from all over the world come to Limerick City to make their mark, and what they leave behind are vibrant, evocative, uniting murals and messages. Check them out, take a pic, post on your IG... you can tell the parents you’re ‘cultured’ now.


8. Tea time

Play tourist for a day and visit Limerick’s top attraction – King John’s Castle. Situated in the heart of medieval Limerick City, King John’s Castle brings to life over 800 years of dramatic local history!

Don’t miss the Limerick Milk Market on a Saturday morning! Sip your coffee as you amble around checking out the sights and sounds of one of the oldest markets in the country – how dotey!
