Welcome to the Department of Sociology at University of Limerick, Ireland. The Department was founded in May 2003 and is located within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. The Department of Sociology has won numerous awards for teaching excellence and it hosts varied and vigorous research activity on a broad range of themes, representing a number of different methodological traditions.  It is activively involved in a range of research projects in the Institute for the Study of knowledge and Society (ISKS) and recently co-organized the first ever Winter School in Social Science Research Methods.
