The following facilities are available for use by industry, details for each facility are contained below along with relevant contact details. Facilities are grouped by the strategic research areas listed below:
Materials & Surface Science
All of MSSI's state-of-the-art characterisation and sample preparation facilities are available for use by Industry. Several of these facilities are unique in Ireland. MSSI employs a team of highly trained research staff to support industry using these facilities who combine research expertise in chemistry, physics, engineering, materials science and nanotechnology with the technical skills required to perform cutting edge analysis and research. For a full list of Materials & Surface Science facilities available for use to Industry, please see the MSSI Equipment webpage.
The Irish Centre for Composites Research has a wide range of facilities in the areas of Manufacturing, mechanical testing, inspection, measurement and modelling. A full list of the facilities available is on the IComp website, please contact IComp if you wish to obtain further information on using these facilities.
The Centre for Applied Biomedical Engineering hosts a range of facilities, including Histology, Cell Culture, Bioreactor, Bone Testing and many more. A full list of facilities is available on the CABER website.
Physical Education & Sports Science
The Physical Education and Sport Sciences (PESS) department hosts a range of modern and well equipped laboratories catering for teaching and research in physical education, exercise physiology, biomechanics and psychology/motor skills. As well as containing a range of general laboratory equipment, each laboratory contains specialist research equipment in the areas of biomechanics, physiology, biochemistry and psychology/motor skills. A full list of facilities & equipment is available on the PESS website.
Marine Robotics Research
The Marine Robotics Research Centre (MRRC) has a range of laboratory and field test equipment available for research and training purposes in marine technology and industrial automation. This includes a range of Mobile and Industrial Robots, Sensor calibration and test equipment, Simulators for fundamental research and Hardware in the loop testing, and data acquisition systems. The MRRC operates a suite of Hydrographic Survey equipment and has Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs) including ROV Latis which it can deploy for commercial surveys and collaborative research and development activities. A full list of equipment is available on the MRRC website.
This is a small sample of the facilities and equipment available for use by Industry, if there are any other facilities equipment that you require and do not see listed above, please contact the Research Office who can help with your query.
