The HRI aims to act as a catalyst for research by providing members accessibility to core support systems in the following areas:
- Methodology: biostatistics, informatics, economics, epidemiology
- Skills: grant writing and grant review
- Experts: grant reviewers
- Programmes: training and mentoring
- Career: career development programmes
The HRI also intends to become a leader in the area of Public and Patient Involvement
The HRI is aware of the importance of connecting with patient groups and communities early in research projects as close links will give researchers a greater awareness of public and patient needs and concerns.
The HRI is a member of IPOSSI (Irish Platform for Patient Organisations, Science and Industry) which is a patient-led organisation that works with patients, government, industry, science and academia to put patients at the heart of policy and medicines. This allows our members access to an organisation which promotes patient understanding, and patient involvement in the treatment and decision-making processes that affect them in Ireland.
Also, a large number of our members are key drivers of Public and Patient Involvement and have developed outstanding working relationships with relevant communities and patient groups.
