New Research Ethics Governance Chair & Research Governance Officer

Paul Reynolds, Chair, University of Limerick Research Ethics Governance Committee (ULREG)

The University of Limerick is delighted to welcome Paul Reynolds, Edge Hill University who recently took up the role of Chair of ULREG, succeeding Aidan Hickey. Paul is Reader in Sociology and Social Philosophy at Edge Hill University, with research and teaching interests in: sexual ethics, politics and culture; radical social and political theory and philosophy (with particular reference to Marxism); the intellectual and professional in contemporary societies; and research ethics. Paul is currently: Visiting Professor at the University of Ghent, Belgium, Co-Convenor of the International Network for Sexual Ethics and Politics and co-editor in chief of its journal; co-Director of the International Network, Cultural Difference and Social Soldarity; an Editor of Historical Materialism: Research in Marxist theory. Appointment of Research Governance Officer

Dr Barry Shanahan was appointed as Research Governance Officer in January, and joins the Research Office from UCD’s University Secretariat. Barry will be responsible for policy development and management within the Research Office; the maintenance and development of research-related governance procedures; providing support to the activities of UL’s Research Ethics Governance Committee (ULREG); and supporting the implementation of research policy across the University.
