The Centre for Social Issues Research at the University of Limerick is inviting applications for a PhD studentship to start in October or as soon as possible thereafter. The studentship will cover both tuition fees and a stipend. The successful applicant will join the structured PhD programme at the University of Limerick and will work on a project in collaboration with Pieta House, a national provider of Support for Sufferers & Families of those affected by suicide and self-harm. The research project will be designed to assess the impact of Pieta House services at community level.

The successful applicant should have an excellent primary degree in psychology or a cognate discipline. Knowledge and experience of quantitative research methods, statistics and SPSS is essential as is a professional interest and commitment to destigmatising mental health issues. The successful applicant will have excellent verbal communication skills as well as written report writing skills as s/he will be required to liaise with Pieta house, community representatives and provide regular written progress report.
