Andrew Shorten, BA (York), MA & PhD (Manchester), is a Lecturer in Politics and Course Director for the MA in Politics.  A political theorist, he works mainly on topics in contemporary political philosophy, and has published book chapters and articles on toleration, global justice, multiculturalism, nationalism, language rights, and the idea of citizenship. He is interested more generally in theories of justice, liberalism and its critics, and the accommodation of religious and cultural diversity.
