In April 2012 Tom Lodge returned to Sharpeville to give out copies of his new book 'Sharpeville: an apartheid massacre and its consequences' to the community and those he had interviewed. Notwithstanding the international attention for the book and reviews, Tom said it was important to go back to the people of Sharpeville who contributed to his research. There was a celebration at the Sharpeville community centre and rumour had it that of the many researchers to visit the community, Tom was the only one to come back and report on his work.
