Public discussion with a Senior UK Government Official

"The UK, Ireland and the EU:  Reform, Renegotiation, and Referendum"

Date:  Wednesday 10th February 2016
Time:  6.30pm to 8.00pm, followed by a reception
Venue:  Kemmy Business School (Room KBG 10), University of Limerick

Hosted by the Department of Politics and Public Administration in association with the British Embassy and Communicating Europe

The British government has committed to holding an 'in/out' referendum on EU membership by the end of 2017.  THe UK is now engaged in renegotiating its relationship with the EU ahead of the referendum.  The results of these developments will have important implications for the UK, Ireland, the Anglo-Irish relationship, and the EU as a whole.  At this event, a senior UK speaker will outline the UK's renegotiation strategy.

Other speakers will include Marian Harkin (Member of European Parliament), Dr. Orlaith Borthwick (Director of Policy, Limerick Chamber of Commerce), Dr. iur. Patricia Conlan (Centre for Irish-German Studies, UL) and Professor Emeritus Edward Moxon-Browne (Department of Politics and Public Administration, UL).
